Various notables that Dave has performed with include Richard "Groove" Holmes, Bucky Pizzerelli, David Liebman, Fareed Haque, The Drifters and Little Anthony & the Imperials to name a few. Dave is also an adjunct professor at Webster University where he teaches Jazz Guitar and various courses of Music History. Plus he sometimes contributes articles for Mel Bay's Webzine - "Guitar Session" (www.guitarsessions.com)
"Dave Black and his glowing, wide-neck acoustic can transform a pop standard or a broadway ditty into melodic fireworks. His ear prefers understatement to surging power, lightness of touch to pure velocity. His originals are dense and scary difficult flavored with sources from Django Reinhardt to Latin American. And he knows when to elide a note, when to linger in a brief silence, and then just how to renew the riff."
